No, charities may only be nominated by a member (who may or may not be on the staff or board of an eligible charity) who has committed to a $400 donation for the giving cycle.
A charity is eligible for nomination if it meets the following two criteria: Based in, or serves the local population of, one of the following communities: Gloucester, Rockport, Essex or Manchester, and A registered 501(c)(3).
Charities that are not drawn from the hat will stay in the hat. Once a donation is made to a selected charity, that charity is not eligible for nomination for one year from the date of receiving a gift from 100 Who Care Cape Ann. For a list of selected and previously nominated charities, see
The three nominating members whose charity was drawn from the hat at the previous meeting give simple 5 minute presentations (no Powerpoints or handouts, please), followed by 5 minutes of Q & A with a charity staff member, if desired. Each member then votes to select the recipient charity, which is selected by simple majority.
